Baby Kayla, Alex, Zoo, Toys, Butt Paste. . . .

KAYLA'S DUE DATE IS TODAY!!! SHE IS NOW A FULL TERM BABY!

I had to get a picture of Kayla with Lola. We took the same kind of picture with Alex and Lola when Alex was a baby. Actually Alex and Lola took a lot of naps together when he was tiny.

I try and give Kayla belly time for about 20 minutes every day. On this day she curled her legs under her and went to sleep. I guess she didnt feel like exercising.

Alex loves to hold Kayla and snuggle her for about 30 seconds and then he is done. It is pretty cute that he likes her so much.

We went to the zoo last week with my friend Christy, her daughter, and a little girl that she watches. This was the Grizzly bear caves and Alex loved the bears. We could have stayed with the bears all day long if it were up to him. He was hooting and hollering, and clapping his hands. When we got home he told dad all about the bear. It was swimming in water and blowing bubbles. He was soooo excited.

Alex likes to line his toys up all in a row, whether it be animals or cars they need to be in order. I found it interesting that he does this. Another interesting thing he does is at night when it is time for bed he has to have his blanket. It is yellow and blue on one side and plain yellow on the other side. He has to have the blanket on him with the yellow side facing up. He also hates to be dirty and makes us wipe his hands immediatly if he gets food or anything on them.

This morning Alex was laying on the floor in front of me while I was feeding the baby. He was being so quiet while he watched his cartoons. Then after about 10 minutes he popped his head up and it was covered in butt paste. Of course I had to grab a camera before I cleaned him up! What a mess it was trying to get that stuff off of him. It is soooo greasy.

Train Ride!

For some reason when I did the slide show it erased the comments. So if you want to add a comment then you can do it here.

TRAIN RIDE!

When we first brought Kayla home we didnt go anywhere because she was so small and premature. We felt bad for Alex because we were all cooped up in the house. So Erik made an extra effort to come home and spend time with Alex. He would take him to the train store, to the park or to Grandpa and Grandmas. One weekend he took Alex to Osceola WI to ride a train. They had a lot of fun. Grandpa and Grandma went to and I think they enjoyed it.

"> We have hit another milestone. Kayla is exactly 1 month old today!

She is doing really good still. We had our first download with the monitor to see how she is doing. She was on Caffeine for the Apnea but they took her off of it after the download. They want to keep her on the monitor at least until the middle of October to see how she does without the caffeine and to see how she does with her shots. I am glad because it helps me to sleep at night knowing the monitor will catch anything that may go wrong. She is still in preemie clothes but I am able to put some newborn things on her now. I am guessing she weighs between 6 1/2 lbs and 7. My scale doesnt show her weight so I am not sure what it is. I weighed myself and then added her to me to see how much weight she was. The first time it said 8 1/2 lbs and the second time it said 6 1/2 lbs. She is still pretty little so I think the second time was more accurate. I have layed her on her belly a few times and she hates it! She cried the whole time. I left the room for a minute and when I came back she had done a complete 180*. She had spun herself around which I think is really good. She has to be building some muscle with all of that movement. We cant believe it has been a month already! HAPPY 1 Month Kayla!!!!!!

3 weeks old!

I can not believe she is already 3 weeks old.
You can see the wires off to the side of her. Those are where we plug her into the monitor. Kind of funny that I finally have another baby and I have to plug her in at night. It makes it sound like it isn't for real. Sometimes I can't believe how real she is. She is a dream come true! One thing I have noticed about preemie clothes is you can buy a lot of sleeveless things in the summer. That is weird because with preemies they need to be kept warm because they can't do it themselves. I bought a few little summer preemie outfits before I knew too much and I am having to layer, layer, layer! She is doing good though. She is starting to regulate her own temperature which is really good.

I took this last night so she was almost 3 weeks, just a 1/2 day short!

She was wide awake ready to play! Happy 3 weeks Kayla!
